Organic Synthesis, Supramolecular Chemistry, Coordination Chemistry

We are preparing organic building blocks as ligands for metal coordination to obtain Lewis acidic (preferrably luminescent) receptors. E.g. lanthanide phenanthrolin based coordination compounds act as lewis-acidic receptors for anions (specially phosphate). One derivative is able to specificaly respond to ATP over ADP or AMP or to specifically detect tryptophan in a mixture of all proteinogenic amino acids. Complexes of this kind can also be used for cell marking and for sensing of phosphate groups at/in the cell. In addition we are collaborating with Dr. Tim Clarner (Institut für Neuroanatomie, RWTH) to understand mechanisms of the “Cuprizone model”.

Expertise

Organic synthesis, supramolecular chemistry, coordination chemistry (preparation of receptors for anions and cations, molecular self-assembly).

Need

We are highly interested to test our receptors under highly competitive conditions and to find novel targets which we can address with our receptors.
