Success in the Open Seed Fund Call 2019
Four MSE participants - Jun.-Prof. Dr. Rossetti, Dr. Chatain, Prof. Dr. Koschmieder, and Prof. Dr. Bolm - have been successful in raising a fund in the "OPEN Seed Fund Call 2019". With this particular granting scheme, which is part of the Excellence Initiative, RWTH intends to foster interdisciplinary research. The new collaboration between Universitaetsklinikum Aachen (Koschmieder/Chatain), FZ Juelich (Rossetti), and the Institute for Organic Chemistry of RWTH Aachen University (Bolm) aims at the preparation of novel chemical entities and their application in the therapy of myeloid and lymphoid leukemias, including myeloprolfierative neoplasms (MPN), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The goal is to identify molecules with unprecedented scaffolds and to functionally test their efficacy and toxicity, thereby improving the properties of known bioactive compounds. Computational methods will be used to predict the ADMET (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity)-related properties of the new compounds and related adverse effects.
